Welcome to PTY Wood Floor Care

Hardwood floors are all we do

Most floor care companies treat hardwood as an afterthought between carpet jobs. PTY Wood Floor Care was built around wood. We focus on residential hardwood: removing old wax buildup, reviving tired finishes with a screen and recoat, deep-cleaning ground-in grime, and refinishing floors that are worth saving.

If your hardwood looks cloudy, yellowed, scratched or just plain tired, there's a good chance it can be restored for far less than you'd expect — and we'll tell you honestly which service gets you there.

FAQ

Common questions about hardwood floor care

How much does it cost to restore my hardwood floors?

It depends entirely on what the floor needs. A cleaning or buffing costs a fraction of a recoat, and a recoat costs a fraction of a full refinish. That's why we start with a free estimate — we look at the floor and quote the least invasive service that fixes the actual problem.

My floors look dull and cloudy. Do they need to be refinished?

Not necessarily. Cloudiness often comes from wax buildup, cleaning-product residue, or a finish that's simply dirty rather than worn. Many "hopeless" floors look dramatically better after professional wax removal and cleaning. We'll tell you honestly whether you need cleaning, a screen and recoat, or full refinishing.

What's the difference between a screen and recoat and refinishing?

A screen and recoat lightly abrades the existing finish and applies a fresh coat — no sanding to bare wood. Refinishing sands away the entire old finish (and a thin layer of wood) and rebuilds from scratch. Recoating is faster, cleaner and cheaper; refinishing fixes deeper damage. Our blog post compares them in detail.

How long do I have to stay off my floors after a recoat?

Usually socks-only after about 24 hours, furniture after a couple of days, and rugs after a week or so, depending on the finish and the weather. You'll get a written care schedule before we start.

Do you clean carpets too?

No — and that's deliberate. PTY Wood Floor Care is a hardwood specialist. Wood is our entire focus, which is why we're so good at diagnosing what a floor really needs.
